Soft Claws Nail Caps For Dogs

| Comments (4)

Soft Claws Nail Caps I have not used the following product myself, but I can see how Soft Claws might come in handy

...in certain situations and on a temporary basis.

Soft Claws are vinyl nail caps that glue on to your dog's nails.

They look like your dog's nails, only they are hollow.

The nail caps effectively blunt your dog's nails so their ability to scratch a variety of surfaces is significantly reduced.

Blunting a dog's toenail simply means making it less sharp.

More About Soft Claws Nail Caps

Soft Claws nail caps for dogs to prevent scratching. The application process is simple: Just fill each vinyl nail cap with the adhesive that's provided, then slide it on over your dog's toenail. It stays on for 4-6 weeks.

Each low-cost nail kit comes with 40 nail caps, the adhesive that secures them onto your dog's toenails, and simple instructions.

You can place them only on the front paws (say, to alleviate temporary scratching) or on your dog's front and back paws (say, to prevent scratches on hardwood floors).

They come in a variety of colors (clear, black, blue, red, purple, and pink) and sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, and Jumbo).

No I have not used Soft Claws. (Perhaps I should have, because our dogs' nails have practically ruined the hardwood floor in front of the door. We've learned to live with it.)

According to Doug (Jan 22, 2007 above), Soft Claws didn't work so well with his Boxer. But he thinks they might work better on smaller dogs.

I don't know of any other products to recommend. Some dog owners have offered some tips here: Tips For Dog Owners With Hardwood Floors

For those who happen to be in a position to choose dog-friendly flooring for a new (or remodeled) home, might consider these tips for choosing the best hardwood floors if you have dogs.

Our dog is scratching our new hardwood floors. Have you ever used "soft claws", and if so, do they work? Do they last as long as the advertisement claims? I can't think of another solution to our problem, and I am desperate. I would greatly appreciate any information that you could provide.

Sincerely,
Paula

Thanks soooooo much for sharing that! I was afraid they wouldn't work as promised -- especially with larger dogs.

Has anyone tried them with smaller dogs????

We have a 50 pound Boxer and wood floors. We tried these to protect the floor. They don't stay on and they wore out in 3 or 4 days (holes in the cap). Our dog is mostly an inside dog. I don't recommend these. They are a waste of money. They might work OK for a small dog.
