Spa 4 Pawz Shampoo: A Review
The absolute best smelling dog shampoo I've ever found is called Spa 4 Pawz Aromatherapy Foaming Dog Shampoo.
It's a doggie shampoo & conditioner in one.
Why It's Different
Spa 4 Pawz is a highly concentrated foaming shampoo & conditioner for dogs that is made from top-of-the-line plant extract therapy products derived from nature itself. The Essential Oils in this product lend themselves to some amazing aromatherapy benefits!
What I Like Best:
- unique foamer top/foaming dispenser with wider-than-normal pump top so it's easier to depress
- smells great (my favorites: Juniper & Lavender)
- no spill container
- vitamin & protein enriched for a healthier coat
- only takes a couple of pumps to lather up a full-size adult dog
- smells great
- pH balanced for your dog's skin and coat
- can easily dispense the foaming shampoo into your hand, or directly onto the dog's fur
- smells great (...oh, did I already mention that?)
- deep-cleansing properties available using only a small amount of shampoo
- comes in a convenient smaller-sized bottle, so it's easier to handle (and store)
- highly concentrated, so the little bottle lasts a long time
Why Dogs & Dog Owners Love Spa 4 Pawz
Spa 4 Pawz dog shampoo is perfect for pampered pets and their owners who like to "go the extra mile" to make their pet look (and smell!) great.I say that because you could certainly get a bigger, industrial-sized bottle of standard dog shampoo that would do the job of cleaning your dog's fur and conditioning his skin, but Spa 4 Pawz takes it a step beyond that by creating a cleansing product that's "nature-inspired for healthier pets". By adding a unique blend of Essential Oils, you and your dog both benefit from the aromatherapy properties that result.
The best part: Spa 4 Pawz is less expensive than most other aromatherapy dog shampoos. So you can indulge your dog (and your senses) and not feel guilty!
To my knowledge, Spa 4 Pawz is currently only available in Target stores. It sells for approximately $7 for a 19-ounce bottle and is made by Royal Pet Incorporated.
From the back of the bottle:
Spa 4 Pawz features top of the line plant extract therapy products derived from nature itself, resulting in a safer, healthier, and happier canine companion. One treatment of this specially blended shampoo and conditioner will leave your dog's coat regenerated and invigorated without heavy oil residues.
My Favorite Scents
There are 3 different scents available in the Spa 4 Pawz Aromatherapy Foaming Dog Shampoo line. My favorites are "Whispering Lavender" and "The Woods". The other one (that I haven't tried yet) is "Invigorating Mint".From the "Whispering Lavender" Bottle:

This special blend of Lavender and Chamomile helps calm irritated skin, ease anxiety, and relieve muscle pain. Lavender helps alleviate motion sickness for dogs on the go!
Naturally Beneficial Ingredients: Extract of Lavender, Chamomile and Kelp, Mint, Juniper, Seaweed, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Aloe Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Wheat Protein, Oat Protein, Vitamins A & D, Vitamin E, and a proprietary blend of Essential Oils.
Helps relieve anxiety and soothe itchy, insect bitten skin. Juniper also acts as a natural insect repellent.
Naturally Beneficial Ingredients: Extract of Juniper, Aloe Vera Oil, Mint, Seaweed, Chamomile and Kelp, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Aloe Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Wheat & Oat Protein, Vitamins A & D, Vitamin E, and a proprietary blend of Essential Oils.
From the "Invigorating Mint" Bottle:

The Invigorating Mint ingredient is a combination of Cucumber to soothe itchy, dry skin and Mint Essential Oil to invigorate and energize. Specially blended for the mature canine.
Naturally Beneficial Ingredients: Extract of Blue Maliva, Aloe, Sage, Mint, Cucumber, Seaweed, Kelp and Chamomile, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Lauryl Glucoside, Cocoglucoside, Cocamidophy Betaine, Glyceryl Oleate, Glycerol Stearate, Sweet Almond Oil, Jojoba Oil, Polyquaternium 10, Dimethicone Copolyol, Aloe Oil, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, and a proprietary blend of Essential Oils.
UPDATE: 3/28/06 Thanks to a heads-up I received from a visitor to this site (...thanks, Randy!), I was able to scoop up an ample supply of Spa 4 Pawz dog shampoo from the Clearance aisle at Target!
This picture is a testament to the fact that I absolutely LOVE this dog shampoo. (Destin does too.) I purchased every bottle of Whispering Lavender and The Woods that the three Target stores near me had. (I decided to pass on the Invigorating Mint scent... not my favorite.)
UPDATE 5/20/06: Thanks to the research of another loyal visitor (...thanks, Santos!), it appears that Spa 4 Pawz is now being sold as Spaw Essentials (or Spa Essentials dog shampoo) at Petco. Currently, the two "scents" available at Petco are these:
UPDATE 12/20/07: This dog shampoo is vet-approved, too! I asked our vet for his opinion of the shampoo and its ingredients. He said it looks like "really good stuff." He said there are even a few extra ingredients that are good for dogs like the vitamins & aloe, etc.

I am still looking for Whispering Lavender dog shampoo and conditioner. Please, Please, Please give me some information I can actually use. Can I order it since Roanoke VA doesn't seem to have it anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is actually the best shampoo I'v found and I have tried most of them. Thanks for any help.

Where can I find foaming Whispering Lavender Dog Shampoo and Conditioner. The last I had came from Target, but they no longer carry it. Can I order from you? Thanks
Hey I was looking at this web site the other day because I too love this dog shampoo! So I e-mailed the company to find out some info. and I was e-mailed back the next day. This is the e-mail:
Hi Michelle -
Target no longer carries this product - the name has also been changed to Spaw Essentials. Most Petco locations carry the Spaw Essentials line.
At this time our website is under construction. You may purchase the shampoo by calling the number below. However, since we are the manufacturer, at this time the product is only available by the case. This would include 12 16oz bottles for $83.88 plus s/h.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance

To Mildred and everyone else searching desperately for Spa4Pawz dog shampoo (now known as Spa Essentials and sold at Petco)...
I do not have any other information as to where this product can be purchased -- other than Petco.
The best I can do is to recommend that you contact the company directly:

Good luck.
As for me... fortunately I stocked up (big time!) when I saw Target putting all their remaining stock on clearance. So I've still got several months worth left.
Hi Lynnette,
I just wanted to know where can I get these shampoo since Target Store doesnt carry it anymore? These shampoo is a very good one, specially to my dog. I would appreciate it if you can give me an info.
Thank You,
Mildred
This is the BEST dog shampoo I have ever used. The awesome scent lasts for weeks. My plea to Target for this product to be brought back fell on deaf ears. If you email the manufacture from their site: royalpetinc.com they will sell it to you. Yippee!
Thank you for your interest in our shampoo. Regretfully, Spa4Pawz isn't carried at Target anymore. At this point, Petco is the only other outlet that carries the shampoo and cologne (under the name Spaw Essentials). It is in about 3/4 of Petco stores so there should be one in your area that carries them. Please check out www.petco.com and call the store in your area, hopefully they will have some in stock.
Thanks again for your interest in our product!
We live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Can you tell us where to go to buy spa 4 pawz dog shampoo? We've use the scent "the woods" and would like to obtain an additional supply. Thank you.

Pls. help. if anyone can give me more insite on where I may purchase more of this wonderful shampoo pls. email me at kvt315@gmail.com and pls. indicate in the subject "Puppy foam shampoo"

I went to a Petco store in Fl this past week and couldn't find it. Anyone else have the same problem? It there a place on the web where it can be ordered?
Thank you for the info as to where to find the shampoo. I just finally ran out of it, went to Target and there was no more, I was very upset. Glad to know I can still get it. By far the best dog shampoo around!
Thanks SO MUCH to Santos, I'll run over to Petco now !

See the 5/20/06 update above -- right above the COMMENTS. It refers to the places you can find Spa 4 Paws.
I found this product at Target some time ago.
They are not carrying it any longer.
Can you inform me on where I can buy this product in Southern Calif?
Thanks,Carla
I have great news! I found out were you can get this product. It is now being sold at Petco. It is now called Spaw Essentials. I was told by Royalpetinc that its the same formula but with a different name. I bought it and it is indeed the same product. The only bad thing is that it costs twice as much and it is in a 16oz bottle compared to the 19oz.
Eeeek! I LOVE this dog shampoo and it seems to have vanished from the face of the earth! Where can we get more? Any thoughts? Why would anybody discontiue this product? My dog has never smelled better! I, too, have gotten as many bottles from Target as possible - but what do I do when I run out?
Randy -
Thanks for sharing that info.
You can bet I'll keep my eye out at our local Target(s) and scoop up all the bottles I can get my hands on -- if I see they're going on clearance around here.
We went to Target in Hiram,GA and there was only 1 bottle left on the Clearance shelf. I guess this means that it is not going to be carried by them any longer...at least not in the Target near us. Dang it!!! I did see on the bottle that the website address is www.royalpetinc.com .
