After watching a special on Animal Planet about the Cypress Inn (a luxury dog-friendly hotel that’s owned by Doris Day), I decided to research a little more about this beloved actress and animal rights activist
Here’s what I found…
Doris Day has always been an animal lover and an animal rights activist. One of her many endeavors has been to operate a luxury dog-friendly hotel called the Cypress Inn in California.
Located in the heart of Carmel-by-the Sea, the Cypress Inn is just blocks from the village’s
famous beach, shops, galleries and restaurants.
You can view the rooms here.
Your pets are welcome at the Cypress Inn. We even offer pet sitting services and recommendations for dining with your pet in Carmel. Carmel is a pet friendly town where dogs can run free on Carmel Beach.
Dog-Friendly Restaurants, Too
For example at Porta Bella (and several other restaurants there), they welcome your pet for lunch and dinner and even provide your pet with a water bowl — we’re talking a huge champagne bucket filled with sparkling cold water — and biscuits. Many of the restaurants in this area even feature a special menu for your dog!
Dogs visiting Carmel on the Central Coast are well treated because many of the city’s hotels, shops and galleries welcome canines with dog biscuits and special doggie menus at outside restaurants. At the Cypress Inn, co-owned by legendary film star Doris Day, man’s best friend is the guest of honor with doggie blankets and evening turndown service and treats. The Forge in the Forest, a favorite restaurant among local residents, offers the Dog Pound menu. At Porta Bella waiters bring pups water in a champagne bucket. Source
