Our dog recently discovered a rabbit hole in our backyard and his attention could not be diverted away from the bunnies until the last one left the nest.

The rabbit hole was located along the edge of our landscaped flower beds. Mixed in between the daylillies and the weeds that have started to overtake our garden was a furry/grassy nest that the dog noticed was “wiggling”.

Dog lost teeth. How can I care for her tongue? It hangs out all the time. Will she be in pain? — Gail

Hanging Tongue Syndrome is a condition where a dog’s tongue hangs out of his mouth all the time and the dog is unable to bring her tongue in at will.

This could be due to the dog’s breed, a mouth or jaw injury, or deformities of the mouth or teeth, among other things.

Other times, things like medications or the removal of teeth could temporarily leave your dog’s tongue hanging outside of his mouth.

If a dog is not able to moisten her tongue by bringing it fully into the mouth, then the tongue could become dry or cracked over time and cause the dog some pain.

Here’s what you need to know…

I’ve considered buying Freshpet refrigerated dog food and serving it up in small doses as special treats for my dog — just like I do with the Biljac. (I often give premium brands of dog food as “treats” to my dog.) It would also make great filler for Kong toys that my dog enjoys so much.

The folks at Freshpet invited me to try their new dog treats, and I jumped at the chance.

Are you kidding? I’ve heard great things about the company and their all natural dog food products. So yeah, I’d love to introduce Freshpet “homemade” dog cookies to my dog and see what he thinks!

Or maybe you’ve acquired an older dog who has his own daily routines that aren’t coordinating very well with your own personal routines.

Either way, you can bet it will be helpful (to both you and the dog) to get into a routine that works for both of you!

You want to get your dog on some sort of a schedule so he always knows when he’s going to be allowed outside to pee & poop, when he’s going to be fed, and when he’s expected to go to sleep for the night.

Setting these types of boundaries and expectations for your dog will make housetraining so much easier.

Here’s how to get your dog to adapt to a daily routine…

Is your dog causing you a lot of frustration and heartache?

Trust me, we’ve all been through it.

However, it’s important to realize that dogs (just like babies) are not born bad. Dogs (and humans) are influenced by their surroundings as well as their interactions with others. And the fact is… bad dog behaviors are almost always the result of the dog’s upbringing.

Thus, your dog’s bad behavior could be due to inconsistent or bad dog training. Or your dog may simply be uncomfortable in certain situations for one reason or another.

One thing’s for sure, if we don’t communicate a clear message and be consistent with that message at all times, then our dogs will become confused about what’s expected of them and they will be uncertain about their limits and boundaries.

In fact, without realizing it, you may be accidentally reinforcing bad dog behaviors.

Read more: How To Stop Bad Dog Behavior: Solutions That Work For Common Dog Problems
