Holidays With Dogs: How To Keep Your Dog And Your Guests Safe & Happy This Holiday Season

Here are 3 things you can do to keep everyone safe and happy over the holidays:

  1. Have rules.  Be clear — with your dog and your guests — what the rules are in your home regarding the dog. For example, don’t let your dog jump up on people.  Do let guests know when it’s okay to give your dog treats.
  2. Give safe treats. Know which foods are okay for your dog to eat and which foods are not okay for dogs to eat.
  3. Exercise. Make sure that your dog still gets his daily exercise.  Otherwise, he will be overly anxious and rambunctious when guests are in your home.

Here are some specific Thanksgiving day tips for dog owners. For example, do you know if dogs can eat turkey or not?  And there are some unique Christmas dangers for dogs you should know about, as well.
