VIDEO: Dog Winter & Holiday Safety Tips

With the holidays and winter months fast approaching, you will want to make sure that your dog is safe and protected.

The following video provides tips for keeping your dog safe during the holidays and winter months. Some of the tips include:

  • Keeping Small Dogs Warm - You may have to go to extra lengths to keep your dog warm this winter.  Have your dog stay indoors and if he is a puppy or has short hair, and use a coat or a sweater whenever he goes outside.
  • Outdoor Water - Use ceramic or plastic water bowls.  A dog's tongue can stick or freeze to stainless steel bowls.
  • Outdoor Shelter - If your dog has to stay outside for long periods of time, provide a elevated shelter for him to stay in and use thick & comfy bedding to help insulate him from the cold.
  • Holiday Decorations & Plants - Remember many holiday decorations and holiday plants are dangerous to pets. Keep them out of the reach of your dog!
