Dog Site Review: DoggyMentor.com
According to the site's author, DoggyMentor.com is a place to "get the knowledge you need to train your dog quickly and easily".

First Impressions
While the goal of the Doggy Mentor website might be to provide dog training information, unfortunately the website itself doesn't provide much of that info for FREE.Instead, most of the info about training dogs is available -- for sale -- in their online e-book called The Ultimate Dog Training Kit.
The "kit" is actually an e-book that comes in .pdf format and is available for $19.95 (Mac or PC).
I haven't ordered it. Nor did I receive a copy to review. So I can't say what the e-book itself is like.
The Good
Some of the things I like about the DoggyMentor.com website are that they offer:
- A sampler of 5 free tips online including: "come", "heel", "sit and down', "sit-stay", "down-stay".
- A very brief guide for house training your dog.
- Some simple tips for socializing your dog.
- A very basic overview about crate training your dog.
- A few tips regarding puppy chewing and biting.
- Some general ideas about dog training in the form of a FAQ.
The Not So Good
A few things that are confusing about the Doggy Mentor website:- Right away, I wanted to know more about the author. If you're going to trust the advice of a stranger regarding how to train your dog, then you want to know what this person's experience and expertise are.
- There really isn't much unique content to be found on this website. For that reason, it's hard to get a feel for the author's personal insight and experience when it comes to dog training, in general. What you get is a very basic overview instead.
- While there are 5 client testimonials, and a standard Contact Form for questions or comments, there isn't a place for "live comments" on the website. So it's hard to tell how well-respected the author and his or her ideas are -- based on unsolicited feedback from the public.
- One might expect to find dog-friendly training supplies and toys in their "online store". However, there are merely four more e-books for sale there.
General Conclusions
Overall, I would prefer to find many more tips and ideas available (for free) when I visit a site about dog training.Even the Ask The Expert page appears to be a solicitation for new business where you're more likely to receive information about the author's consultation fees, rather than actual advice or suggestions regarding dog training.
I will say this... if I had entered the site for the purpose of learning more about or buying this specific dog training e-book called "The Ultimate Dog Training Kit" and/or if I had been specifically seeking professional dog training services for my dog... then this site might have fit the bill. But instead, I entered this site for the purpose of taking away some new ideas when it comes to dog training. And there simply isn't enough takeaway info to make a visit to the Doggy Mentor website worthwhile.
In sum:
If you are trying to gather some detailed tips & ideas with regard to dog training, then this site probably isn't what you're looking for.
On the other hand, if you are seeking personal consultation & services from an actual dog trainer... this might be the perfect site for you! Why? Because you can browse the website first for some very basic tips, buy the ebook for some more advanced tips, and then sign up for a personal consultation with a dog trainer if more in-depth, one-on-one attention is desired.
I was asked to review DoggyMentor.com (not "The Ultimate Dog Training Kit") through ReviewMe.com. This is a paid (albeit honest) review of the Doggy Mentor website.
